Disorder characterized by lack of appetite and distortion that a person’s body image, who also has extreme fear of obesity and refuses to maintain a minimally normal weight. Approximately 95% of people who suffer are women who are affected usually in adolescence.

Causes

- Fashion.
- Image of extreme thinness promoting magazines, television and film.
- Overweight is considered unattractive, unhealthy and undesirable.
